The 12th house Synastry: Love behind the scenes

The 12th house is mysterious, magical, elusive, highly psychic, spiritual, and the most interesting thing about it in synastry is that relationships with planets here tend to function mostly on a unconscious level, and even a whole other world entirely. It's not of this world, it's spiritual and I don't mean you go to church together spiritual but it's certainly possible. I mean your spirits are communicating with each other, that type of thing. As a matter of fact it's very difficult to word. I'm not all that great with articulating stuff that's not of this world. I guess the best way I can describe it is as if it's partially a dream. You know how you feel different in a dream but it's very real? Kinda like that, it can be magical, spiritual, and present us with unconditonal love that wasn't meant to live in this world. Or it can bring us confusion, misunderstandings, enhance our fears, and sometimes scare our darn pants off like when were having a nightmare.

When dealing with the spirit world, there are both positive and negative, you know good and bad people and spirits. This is why this house also holds our hidden enemies. Although much of the time we find out it's ourself.

Our fake fears you know, the what if's? it doesn't work or they don't like me? or I fail? the assumptions of the worst.

Yes, assumptions is one thing that takes place a lot in this house. It's often the downfall of many relationships with planets here. The subconscious is full of stuff that we don't even know about, not consciously anyway but our dreams often show us what's in here. A example of how the hidden fears thing of this house works is that we often will have a bad dream about something we are afraid of happening or suppressed anger, and and fear can bring us nightmares. When we are having a nightmare we have to face immense fears. This is all the 12th house stuff, and why dreams can be healing and why this house can offer us healing. Relationships that take place here( 2 or more planets in this house) offer a great deal of healing, self undoing, and even unconditional love but it's not easy to navigate. You must be open and not make assumptions.  Although this house offers both our soul mate or our enemy, along with our fears, phobias, and those things we that we do that undermine our happiness. This house offers the opportunity to discover these things so we can let them go and live a life with less baggage and more happiness. Sometimes the experience in this house is painful other times it's purely magical. Sometimes it's strange and you can't make sense of it. Nonetheless it offers us the opportunity to heal karma, overcome our fears, uncover hidden talents and gifts, and to truly see the mystical, magical spiritual world.

In synastry when people impact this house, there is often sort of confessional that occurs. It's like they can talk about everythng and anything and often don't even realize it. It's much like a therapist/patient relationship. Each person shares secrets, and even unconsciously. The relationship functions mostly on an unconscious level and there is often much misunderstood or misinterpreted if you arent very clear in your speaking with each other. I think what really happens is too much is shared to quickly, many secrets, and hidden parts of oneself and why things often get complicated.

One thing for sure, 12th house relationships are Karmic. This house holds many lifetimes of memories. It is spiritual for both people, but sometimes this is why the relationships seem to be so painful if they end. There is always a lesson and something you will learn and realize that the relationship was fated for some purpose bigger than you origionally thought but not meant to live out in this lifetime.

Positively both can help the other overcome their fears, discover hidden talents, or gifts. Negatively, the planet person can use any of these fears as a way to control them, manipulate them or to use against them in some way.

It's true this house can be heavy, it's the house of hospitals, psychotherapist, prisons, too. So the conversations might be heavy and deep, or they are at least exposing of one whether good or bad. Yes gifts can be found, but contrarily  mental illness, sexual issues, drugs and alchohol issues, you name it it's all here too.

If neither one has any issues like these then the relationship does not need to take on such a heavy role and can then be about many of the positive aspects of this house. Such as unconditonal love, romance, spirituality, and discovering each others gifts and talents and putting them to use. You can be very supportive and will enjoy much of your time alone together away from it all.

Sometimes in teh beginng this house can be overwhelming for some becasue it's like you can see into each others soul. This is especially true with the Moon here but other planets as well. You can hide things from eachother and it can make you feel vulnerable or weary, so it's not a house for everyone.

The 12th house is highly psychic and deeply spiritual.

  1. i have a guy who i'm so into him , he have his sun, venus, mercury and jupiter in gemini on my 12th house. He seem to know all about me even i don't tell or exposed my darkest psyche to him. He understands me in a very deep level. It's strange that i always dream about him. I'm so sad that he choose to be with someone else. His response have a huge impact upon me. I couldn't forget him until now. I agree with your experience. He have deep psychic connection upon me, where he called me at a right time. It's all about 12th house.

    1. I feel you, kak.. Im the planet person, in which im the venus, he's the house person. I can feel him, seeing many good things in him that he never aware. i guess if the house person is non-scorpionic, or less-scorpionic perhaps, they won't run away scared because they feel they are exposed, lol
If the house person is heavy-scorpio people, hmm don't even think aboutt having relationship with this peeps, they will ruuuuunnnn away asap no matter how much you mean to them. we are creepy to them, but cant seem to let us go. what a selfish!
so far i have involved in guys where my venus lied in their twelve house, it was love but felt like hidden agenda, holly crap! I love them unconditionally, to the point like they are flawless in my eyes. but they just made it private. such beautiful love, they put it behind the scene.

  2. Hi Aida! Thanks for sharing your experience:) Very psychic this 12th house Synastry, you really feel connected regardless if you are together or not it's like you exist on another plane 0:

Very interesting article! I have recently encountered a gentleman whose Gem Sun, Mercury, Tau Mars and North Node falls in my 12th. My Lib Sun and Jupiter falls in his 12th. We also have vertex conjuct Asc. Double whammies. My 12th house Saturn conjunct his NN and His Chiron and Saturn conjunct my NN. A stripping of the egos for sure! Definitely feels fated/destined/telepathic/psychic. I dream of him a lot. Lot's of non-verbal communicating. We easily know what the other needs without words. I resonate with the guy you wrote about in your article. The water faucet with no shut off valve, lol. I have found myself on a couple of occasions asking, "Why in the world did I just tell him that?" Although my guy is very vulnerable with me as well, he is still more controlled than I, in the sharing of deeper things (probably his Scorp rising). At least I know now that I'm not the only one spilling my water in the 12th house, lol. Thanks for being so detailed. :) Would also love to read about Double Whammies in the 12th if you have any info.

  4. Hi GeminiRising! thanks for visiting! Ha interesting this 12th house isn't it? Double whammies in my opinion are like gateways of energy between the two people the energy is mutual, open, and receptive- going both ways. The only thing is boundaries, extremely psychic and and very empathetic which makes it very hard to set boundaries with a double whammy especially involving Neptune or the 12th house. I will try to expand on it in greater detail for ya, so check back:)

  5. could you explain in detail why this weird connection happens in this 12th house? i had experience with a guy who have 4 benefic planets in my 12th house. He could communicate with my soul because he could explained my secret desire without boundaries.I had erotic dreams about him a lot. Those this mean that he's thinking about me a lot too? So strange in this 12th house.

  6. Hi Aida! Im so sorry for the delay! I've been rather busy these days but am always happy to answer questions:) The 12th house is about as mysterious and the afterlife! But we do know a lot more about it than we did some time ago. The 12th house is the house of the spirit, it's deep and mysterious, and usually where we find our guides, angels or demons. Its vague, wet, murky and the fog is dense, we need to rely on our intuition, but our intuition is skewed here, so what is one to do? When wondering around in someones 12th or they in yours? Be direct, ask questions, dig deep, ask for proof and confirmation. You need to be clear in areas such as this, find out why you met this person or they you? more than likely you will see, there is a very big reason:) Often they are a teacher when it's a good person, or you have something to teach them. These are people who souls we touch and theirs ours.

  7. Thanks for the 12th house information. Now i understand the mystery of the house that touch our soul. It's true that when someone touches our soul in deep connection, they could teach us a lesson. I have known that this house related to karmic connection. We face the same situation when someone touch our 12th house. Here are the examples i want to share with you. For example, my first ex BF married to the woman, who was his course mate. This woman matched all of his criteria (tall, slim & fair). I also faced this same situation from my present crush whom he married with the woman same as my first ex BF criteria. It's difficult to let go with the person who touch our 12th house. All of the guys whom I'm involved above have stellium especially benefic planets in my 12th house. In future, i'll try to do some research about this mysterious house according to my religion. Any info i'll share with you later.

  8. Hi Aida, very interesting what you say.. Well you know, Neptune rules the 12th house, which is idealization, so in a sense these people will appear to be our ideal! I would be very interested as always in hearing about any findings or further experience or information you can conjur up!

  9. I have neptune (Sagitarius) in my 7th house with Gemini rising. I attracted those people in my relationship. As you said, these people were my ideal. =)

  10. I have a very bad experience with someone's mars on my 12th house. Why this could be happen? It is because mars is a harsher planet?

    ReplyDelete
  11. Hi Aida! Mars is a aggressive action oriented planet and again as always it would depend on the individual who is activating your 12th house. This is a very private house, and it holds all of our self conscious fears, most of the time we don't like this house activated especially if this is a person that will use this against us.
If the Mars person is selfish and self-serving, he or she may use their knowledge of your bad habits, blind spots and personality weaknesses to manipulate or hurt you. The 12th house person often has difficulty seeing the true nature of the planet and in the extreme this person might actually encourage you to become your own worst enemy. If the person is a good person they can point out our weaknesses and bring them to light so we can move forward with the knowledge that they have to help us be more aware of our unconscious behaviors. Sounds like your experience was on the negative side. Where their intention was not to help but to hurt. And for that I am sorry you had to experience that. Take it like a grain of salt and more of insecurity on their behalf. Because people that are confident don't usually like to point out other's weakness's or make them feel bad.

  14. Hi,
this is illuminating reading for me :)
Recently one man has very special influence on me and his Sun, Mars, Moon and Mercury (although Mercury is very close to my Asc) fall in my 12th house.
He just gets me like no one does, or ever did. But, he is the one who has been a sort of confessional from the very beginning. And he keeps saying that he feels like he knows me for 100 years, so familiar, and that he just knows I would understand him no metter what. And I do, I don't ever want to judge or criticize him. I just listen and really wish to support him.
On the other hand, I don't even have to speak, he just knows what to say to make me feel better. And ever since we started communicating I have that strange feeling of telepathic connection between us.
Is it possible that this 12th house influence works so strong with people who never met in person?
We don't know each other in RL and I don't know how that is going to work out when we meet.
My Pluto square his Sun/Mars kazimi conjunction, within 0 degrees. And with that 12th house influence and everything I read about Mars in 12th house I started asking myself if I should stay away from him. I don't know if I am able to, honestly.
This really feels like karmic bond.

    1. Yes i do believe it possible to work even if you have not physically met as crazy as that sounds, my experience with this house has shown it to be a very magical house, that has roots in the past. I have had a couple of encounters in which I felt bad vibes but the others were unbelievably psychic and strangely accepting and confessional, I personally really like this house but I also know quite a few that have had very poor experiences, so the negative does need to be warned. But really what you also might be feeling is the Pluto Square Sun as well, that is another energy in itself that draws two people like Moth to flame:) the 12th house has roots in the past and most certainly is Karmic so perhaps that explains why it can go either way.

  16. Hi Sharmeen, I am very sorry, unfortunately 12th house connections can sometimes reflect deceptions, it is the house of hidden things, secrets etc.. I can not understand entirely the situation just based on those aspects there is a lot to Astrology I would need to see all the charts in order to properly comment any further. However, I am sorry for your pain, and I guess the upside is you don't need to be deceived anymore the truth is out. Best wishes to you dear, you will find the right one for you, be patient and don't accept anything less!

  17. Helo There,

Last year I was @ a party, with my friends. I remember I was passing by a tall guy, and in a quick thaught, I thaught: this one looks very handsome. But I didn't consider him anymore. During the night I could feel his eyes, some times resting on me. An at one point he came to me, looked me in the eyes...and asked me: " do I know you?" From there on, things never became the same anymore. I felt, I felt sooo hard, in a glance, while looking in his eyes, and feeling like I had know this person for ages. Feeling an intense attraction but beyond the physical, even that he was the personification for what I find attractive in the opposite sex. I loved his soul. From the start. I could feel something so deep. We started off some kind of bizar friendship in where I felt like a teacher towards a child, I always pulling, he always coming towards me, and then everytime when he came, he ran away, literally, like he got burned or something. It was a weird sort of dance, attract/ repulse. He left few weeks after we met for a travel for six months. I thaught his strange behavior had something to do with this. I kept believing he felt the same as I did, but that for this reason he couldnt give into it. Cause he had to be free. Months passed, in where I was writing him letters, telling him about life, telling him about astrology. I made our synastry. And I discovered that I had a stellium of Sun, mars, Mercury and venus in his twelfth house, while his planets sun, moon, venus, mars, jupiter, neptune where all in my seventh house. His AC opposite's my venus. Our Sun Mutually Aspects Pluto aswell as Moon Mutually Aspects Mars. this was all chinese for him but for me it was the confirmation Of I had felled. I didnt want to talk about it untill he would be back home. so we didnt mentioned it untill the last month, i couldnt stand it anymore, and i wanted clairity, if he ever had felt for me. He said, he hadn't and he just hoped we could be good friends when he returned. For one odd reason I never completely believed him. when i came back there was this weird thing between us. I started with an other guy, who is really good for me and is a good match. But I ve never felt what I have felt for this other guy..and still sometimes feel. like sort of obession, that I can not let go off. He is the same, because even if there is nothing that ties us, in any way, we would still feel like inclined to keep communicating. As if something beyond ourself is guiding us....what is this shit, ive been asking me many many times...and is there a way to get over this??

    1. Hi, 12th house placements are highly impressionable, they stay with you long after because it's a highly idealized house, be careful you can easily fool yourself. Disappointments come because we think there is something more even when the person has clearly said there's not. I am not saying there is not a spiritual/psychic or unconscious connection but don't assume he has other feelings than what he has clearly said. It's very common to do with placements in this house.

  18. Hello Everyone,

I can relate to alot of the post that I've read. My moon falls in someone's 12th house. This is the 1st time I've ever felt like I've met my other half.. my soulmate. It's such a surreal feeling. From all levels! Spirtual, Telepathic, Emotionally, Karmic, & Soulful. It's as if its a fairytale, make belive love and Im in a dream. To the point it's hard to explain to others especially because we're no longer together. But yet together telepathically and spirtually. I know it sounds crazy. It's as if nither of us are ready to let go fully.

We also share moon Conj Mars, moon and Pluto Conj & trine. Venus trine Pluto, sun and Saturn trine. I love everything about astrology. Especially natal charts and composite charts. I would love to here anyone's feedback.

    1. I know exactly what you mean and boy is it hard to wrap your head around 12th house connections, there are other worldly and they leave a deep impression that is hard to shake off. Not without good reason, psychic and spiritual connections are not all that common, but they show us what exists beyond this physical world. Your not crazy 12th house connections can stick to your bones.

      Anyone else care to share?

    2. Just a added general observation for everyone.

The 12th house and Neptune can be very painful, the lingering kind. Sometimes because we were deluded by the other, sometimes because we deluded ourselves, or saw things that were not really there at all, we felt they were, but that's not what they were. Or they saw things in us that were not really there whether good or bad.

Neptune idealizes, and makes everything much more beautiful it rules feelings of ecstacy, perfection and the feelings of soulmates but he's a tricky fella once we fall from the high, it's hard to get over.

It's not usually til much later we want to slap ourselves when the Neptune fog clears and reality set's in. We finally realize wait, where are they, why are they not here if we feel so strongly about each other? why am I'm alone. Ouch!

We do not see clearly, we imagine things differently than they are, we trust, we assume, we are not working with facts but what we want to believe and feelings.

Neptune can be downright painful, intentionally or not, he's the master illusionist and we can easily get tripped up in fantasy that is not really real at all. Uck.... ouch ouch!

  19. I just recently met someone by accident online (a learning site.) We have our suns, moons, venus and mars all the same sign and his neptune falls into my 12th house. I also have a stellium of 5 planets in my 8th house so I tend to be highly intuitive already. Strangely enough, I found that I had this very weird feeling of being ill for a couple days and almost felt like I might pass out, but it wasn't like it really felt like I was ill (difficult to explain.) I also was getting crazy muscle twitches. On the second day of this happening, he told me that it was weird because he was going through the same thing because of a blood sugar problem where his blood sugar was going too low. And he's had a muscle twitch problem for years. I then felt like the reason why it felt strange to me seemed to be that I was picking up his symptoms rather than experiencing illness myself (there was also "a fog" kind of feel to it too.) I've also found when we fought and were out of touch, I could feel how upset and rattled he was when he couldn't reach me. Now, I broke off the friendship and he can't contact me. Last night I went to bed normally and suddenly I could not get him off my mind, I laid there for 4 hours unable to sleep and unable to get my mind off of him and the fight we had had days ago. I even took a sleep aid and could not sleep. I find myself wondering if it's happening because maybe I am picking up on him obsessing about it. Does that sound reasonable with his neptune being in my 12th house?

    1. Hi thank you for visiting! Yes I do think that it's a possibility with his Neptune in your 12th its a very intuitive and psychic connection. where is your Neptune? This happens for me with my Neptune in the 1st house I can take in people's feelings, illness or a array of different things that pass through me temporarily. I have noticed this can happen from a distance when we have Neptune 12th house synastry as well.

  20. My Neptune is in my 10th house in Scorpio and since I guess I'm what they would call a "Pluto person" since I have so many (5) planets in my 8th house, maybe that would mean something? I don't know. lol He also has his Mercury conjuncting my Sun in the 8th house and his Venus conjuncts my Venus as well as his Mars conjuncts my Mars. I think we are a bit obsessive about each other although he seemed to be feeling it the worst.

    2. Lol and last night I noticed his Saturn/Pluto conjunct opposes my moon too. I know the Pluto-Moon opposition would usually involve some obsession but not sure about the Pluto-Saturn conjunct opposing moon. Ya, I think we both feel a very strange draw to the other.

  22. Two years ago I met a man with whom I had a one-night stand, thought of seeing only for that one night at a conference, yet continued to see each other for ten times during these two years. The moment we talked I felt like I knew him since always, and when started shring some details it was like we had the same growing up, same ambitions (my Sun is in Aries, his in Capricorn). He is much older than me, far better positioned, with flaws, yet a hero to me. He showed me where to go, was a teacher to me, yet he said I was too young for him and that was only thing that in his opinion is stop to a relationship of a serious kind. We had an affair that was hidden, even though I would have given everything to be with him full time. Too late I realized that I loved him unconditionally. We are from different countries. He got married, told me so and yet said that nothing will change. In other words he wanted us to remain in a hidden while he is married and has political career. Problem is that I feel like I know his soul. And that he doesn't know what is good for him. My Sun, Venus and MErcury are in Aries and fall into his 12th, my moon in Sagittarius falls int his 7th and 8th and his moon in Scorpio into my 5th and his jupiter into my 1st. So, you can imagine what kind of connection this still is. He is not letting me go, he comes into my dreams, only to message me next day.
The whole story is like a novel really, with me running after him through half of the world, and yet he never asked anything more of me than comfort. Well you can imagine how the proposition to be his off-time mistress set with my Midhaven in Aries. However, I still cannot get him out of my head...like there is no better man out there. He was everything I wanted from a man, he broke all my barriers, and he was what I want to become as we run in more or less same line of business. So, it's painful when such love is not returned, like part of me is out there without a chance of getting it back.

  23. I just read the previous 12th house story and the aspects are nearly the same as with the guy I am seeing. My sun, mercury, Venus and Jupiter conjunct his Pluto in the 12th. His sun, mercury, Neptune fall in my 8th house. My Mars,North node and Pluto(in my DC) conjunct his Uranus and Saturn in the 1st house. We have opposite rising signs. His moon fall in my 5th house. His Mars conjunct my Saturn opposite my Pluto. His Venus and Jupiter fall in my 9th house.

When we met I felt like I had seen him before..we started talking online then decided to meet. He was so familiar, which I think it's because of the NN connections. We've been seeing each other for over a month now. He makes me breakdown so many barriers. I feel like a complete different being since I met him. I can sense when he needs something even when he isn't next to me. I can feel his worries and I always know what to say. I've never felt such a connection before, the passion too. It's crazy. But I always wonder if he feels the same because the 12th house is illusive

  24. So many sites / people say that it is only the house person that will be affected / obsessed. However, from reading the comments here, it seems that the planet person can be just as affected as the house person. There is a guy with his scorpio stellium (venus, moon, and pluto) in my 12th house, with his venus/pluto conjunct my Asc/pluto. I can definitely feel the effects of his planets in my 12th, but in your experience is the planet person affected? The comments here suggest that he could be affected, but I noticed that in these cases the planet person fell into the house person's 12th, but the house person's planets also fell into their intense houses (1st, 7th, 5th, etc).

I have north node in his 12th, but nothing else falls into his 12th. Would he feel my NN in his 12th and if so in what way? Also, my sun/venus are in his 10th, moon in his 5th, mars in his 4th. The feeling that I am the only one dealing with the 12th house issues is so painful. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

p.s., any planet people willing to share their experience with their planets in someone's 12th would also be appreciated

    1. As far as who feels what.. it would make sense they both would feel it since one persons planet is being housed ( in a environment) therefore the planet is being influenced also by the house person in their approach and the others is bringing the energy influence. The 12th house is karmic for both for good or not so good both come through this house.:)

  25. Thanks Zahara, what you say makes sense. Also, yes this is definitely a karmic situation. Never felt this way in my life. I feel I just love him unconditionally no matter what, I dream of him a lot, I have fantasies too but I keep this all to myself, a secret. We exist in very different worlds and it just is not convenient to tell him. My heart tells me he secretly feels the same way, but the 12th house can have issues of delusion, so only time will truly tell.

  26. It is strange how much this makes sense: I have my moon in his 12 house and he's got his Neptune in my 12. Same things...so magnetic...he is plutonian, and his pluto trine my moon and sextile my venus and semisextile my sun.

Once I get my answer I know I'll move on.. Fight the illusion and try to find someone who reciprocate the feelings...

This person also has natal Neptune in their 7th house and MY Neptune falls in their 7th house. He also has his natal Sun, Venus and Mercury in his 12th house. I feel like I know this person really well but maybe this relationship is build on misunderstandings and confusion? He knows exactly how I feel about him because I've told him precisely and he doesn't feel the same way but he is always so concerned about if I'm dating/talking with anyone. I feel like he's not being completely honest with me and himself about how he feels about me. But it's OK because we love being around each other. Often taking hour long walks around town/woods just the two of us, talking endlessly.

I just see ALL this Neptunian energy and wonder if there is even a point of pursuing him that way rather than just staying really, really good friends. Gah!

  29. I´m terribly afraid of this 12th house. In synastry, composite, transits, solar returns….always the bringing the worst. I recent discover my crush has his Mars in my 12th conjunct my Ascendant. It´s completely one sided, I have no hope. But I have to work with him and I´m afraid he can realize and maybe use this against me. All information I have is the planet can see through the house person like cristal. He is a Scorpio sun conjunct Pluto, Moon square Pluto (a magnet) with Mars in Libra conjunct Mercury. I feel I cannot even hide from him.

  30. How do you think it would play out his Mars in 12th conjunct my Ascendant???. His Pluto squares my Sun, Moon, Mercury, Saturn and NN. My Pluto sextiles his Moon and Venus and opposes his NN. His Moon squares my NN. My Moon quincunx his Moon. His Venus squares my Vertex.
And also a lot of Saturn and Neptune going on. Sounds karmic or so I think. Should I run now??

  31. My Jupiter falls into this man, I no longer with but had a deep connection. He indeed often told me that we do have a strong connection. I actually feel I treated him wrong although he was a person who’s been there for me when I was going through the hard time. Will you tell me what this mean in synastry?

I also have met two men, 1 in the past and the other one currently that many of my planets fall into their 12th house. What I have found in common is that they both were very aggressive, affectionate and attached to me at the beginning, but once after, i state to feel I don’t know them or what their true intentions are, and left me somehow insecure and confused.
Can you tell me what’s really going on here? Are they always honest to each other when 12 house is involved?
